So you are considering an upgrade to your bathroom. You have probably selected your taps, tiles, bath etc, but often the heating of the bathroom gets overlooked, or worse still and you have alomost finished the rennovation and your only option for heating your shiney new bathroom is a heatlamp. The purpose of this article is to highlight the different ways of heating a bathroom.
When it comes to heating in a bathroom, you only really have 3 choices.
A Heat Lamp
A heat lamp is installed in the ceiling and usually has 4 high wattage globes in it which emit heat when turned on. This option provides instant and often intense heat to the area immediately below the heat lamp.
Pros
- Instant on demand heat
- Good for heating in short bursts of time
Cons
- Only focuses on a small area so in bigger bathrooms not a great option
- 4 globe models use over 1000W per hour so can get expensive if left on
- Heat intensity can be a bit too much
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning
If you already have a ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning system, you may be able to add an additional outlet or zone to your bathroom.
Pros
- You may be able to utilise your existing heating solution for your home in your bathroom as well
Cons
- Your system may not be capable of have an addition zone adding to it
- If access to the roof space is not possible (ground floor of a 2 s-story home)
